The Bee

Even if I had someone to celebrate it with, Valentines Day would be like any other day for me. I don't celebrate it not because I don't believe it but because I feel everyday should be a day for celebrating love. Not just a day. Same goes for Mothers Day and Fathers Day. Sure, it's a day to SHOW your appreciation but shouldn't gifts and flowers and chocolates be given out on any other day ? Let it be for your lover or for your parents; you should always display your lurve (sengaja nak type cenggitu).

But my friends are lovely.

After Maghrib, they came over and brought me out for dinner. Marissa even gave me a small token of love which was very very sweet of her luv her to bits and pieces thanks babe you really are the best diggity

Love how she put a printed a photo of my boys (One Direction lads) !!!! Hahahaha sweetie pie. She didn't just give one to me, she gave to so many others !!! Luv this girl for being so considerate and rajin mengs. Thanks Zati, Sarah and Tariq too for helping out. You babes made my day !!

We ate at this place called 'The Bee' in Publika and it's sooo niiiiice !! I love the place and how cool and lepak it is. Service was a bit slow because there were so many people but it's such a lovely place. And somewhere NEW for a change. Asyik asyik benda sama so why not eh. Can't wait to go again. Had 'Shroom Dog' which was basically hotdog with mushroom sauce and mushrooms with fries. SAH GOOD.

And we had a plate of nachos to share around and deserts ! Pavlova was surprisingly good despite not having much meringue. But such a lovely dinner with my ladiessssss despite them having their own boyfriends. They spent their Valentines Day dinner with a lil' ol' single girl like me heh heh

Thanks Marissa, Zati and Sarah muah muah kiss a bit and love a lot

Knock/Knock

Diyana showed me something one night. It was spoken word poetry. Thanks to her, I'm hooked ! I even took a picture of Phil Kaye and Whatsapp'd her yesterday and said

"This is what I've been doing all day!"

But really.

I have a few favourites but I watched this yesterday and I just have to share it. It's amazing beyond words and it's so powerful, you will feel a chill down your spine.

Ok maybe not that drastic but still!

Jo Turns 20!

It's so weird now because whenever I upload an album of photos, I'd have to label them as "Jo's 20th!" and I still remember when I had to label it as "Jo's 16th Surprise Birthday".

Surprised Jo at Chillis, Citta Mall. They had it planned by having Johann come to Chillis for an interview. Imagine his disappointment to see 15 of his mates surprise him instead for dinner ! Hahahaha

We all had to hide because Jo could have seen us from where we were seated. Stayed low for a good 5 minutes. Amy sempat flip flip menu dulu while squatting on the floor hahahahaha

Surprise Johannnnnnn!!!!!! We and our surprise birthdays haha we've had it since bila dah it's almost a tradition only we don't and never expect it!
This very same bunch surprised me a month AFTER my birthday for my 17th which still remains to be one of my favourite birthdays thanks to this lot.

Headed for Mai for drinks (because what else is new) and I decided to implement the No-Phones-Allowed policy and the first person to check their phones would have to pay for drinks for everyone. Ila succumbed.

After putting our phones in the middle table, everyone just got...... anxious. And kept looking at the phones instead -.- hmmmm
But we did manage to get a game of Would You Rather around. So I guess there was some good in a phoneless 30 minutes.

Now to wash off this shisha smell off me......

"Yum cha!"

Had a great day out with my bebe girls. Went out for lunch at Serai, Paradigm Mall. I have never been to Paradigm so I had to drag Tania out with me since she's been to Kelana Jaya several times now.

But even with that, we got lost......

Had pretty good aglio olio. They had these cherry tomatoes that was SO sedap. Plate was wiped clean, alhamdulillah !

Succumbed to a plate of pavlova and had a special edition of 'yee sang'.

Ila said whoever's fork or spoon or whatever is the highest prosper the most. And mine was the lowest because I was balancing a forkful of pavlova in one hand and a camera on the other ! May my luck and prosperity grow please please.

"Yum cha!!!" as I fumbled with my camera and lifted the pavlova.

"Nadia.... it's yee sang..." Ila said.

I think we laughed and talked a little bit too much and a little bit too loud because I caught the next table glaring and shaking their heads........

..... hay you gaiz it's CNY let us be kecoh kecoh

Left the place and went ronda ronda around the mall to see what's happening in Paradigm. It's actually quite okay. I was thinking it was going to be like Tropicana (which is seriously a sad excuse of a mall!) (and that's coming from me, a girl who LOVES malls) but it wasn't. It had a Zara and a spacious one at that, a Sephora, Dorothy Perkins, H&M ! Not bad at all but some shops were closed so it still looked empty and boring. But I still managed to get 2 pair of shoes......

... now I'm really really broke. I TOLD YOU AND I'M GONNA TELL YOU AGAIN ! Bila dah takde duit sangat lah and when Mama isn't around to follow us shop, banyak lah pulak benda alah.

Really now.

Went back but made a quick detour to OU to get the car fixed. It started to make weird noises so to Guan I go ! (Guan is the nice Chinese guy in ENEOS, OU who helps out all the time. I even catch him hiding whenever the Honda parks in ENEOS hahahaha guan you funny guy you) (he gets an angpau for that).

Tania went for O'Briens and I went around and got myself a magazine and then we went back because Zaim needed the car for golfing. Now I'm back and changed and waiting for my parents to get back home. Need my dinnah.

ViƩtnam

On the 24th of January, college had our annual history classes trip to Vietnam!!

I was 30% excited and 70% nervous. Nervous because of everything that has been said (Read:Warned) about Vietnam. Was told more of what NOT to do than what TO do there.

Basically throughout the 4 days 3 night stay, I went out without a bag and without a phone. I only had my money with me in my jacket pockets and occasionally, a camera.

We reached Vietnam airport and was picked up by a van to the hotel. I turned quiet throughout because

a) I hate flying and we just got off a plane so I was still half tired and half nauseous.
b) I was taking everything in. The streets, the people, the buildings. Everything was so different than what I'm used to back home.

Reached our quaint hotel and settled in a big nice room with Ha and Pana. Surprised at the rather luxurious hotel we were put into given we only had to pay little more than a thousand ringgit!

Food mostly supplied by me. Milo kotak and the Quakers and the Gardenia were by Ha and Pana. My dad, the man paling anti-Maggi Mee said to me before going to Vietnam;

"Bawak Maggi! Kat situ boleh makan"

So I did. But tak makan pun because we had good food throughout!!

We gathered at the lobby for lunch at a Malaysian restaurant. And we walked around the city later. For a mini sightseeing but nothing too serious since we had just landed.

Went back to the hotel and we were free to go anywhere else but only with a group. Roamed around by ourselves but didn't dare to walk too far for fear of being lost in a foreign country! Dined in a nice French owned restaurant around the corner from our hotel.

Day 2!

To save cost, we ordered breakfast and would eat in the hotel itself. Everyone else went to find food outside. We had pretty good omelette and pancakes courtesy of the hotel!

We got into a van and headed to our first museum! It was the one dedicated to the different ethnics in Vietnam.

Went back to the hotel for lunch and we (Bob, Ha, Pana, Eyana) went to a restaurant up high, giving us a nice view of Hanoi city. Had tom yam because it got a bit cold and needed something panas and pedas!

Our next museum trip was to a war museum (?) (who am i kidding they ALL looked like a war museum).

This museum was quite big so we spent about 2 hours and half there.

...

Can you kinda tell I don't like museums by how short my commentary about the museum trips??? Hahahahaha sorreh.

Day 3!

OUR TRIP TO SEE HO CHI MINH.....

....'s body.

Basically the highlight of my trip (besides the shopping and the good Indian food!) !!!!! It was quite intimidating entering the place. Had to be in lines of two and no cameras were allowed. Had to be quiet. But once we were in the place, we had to walk on and no stopping for anything. Saw his body!!!!!! All bits of cool and eery.

Then we walked around to get to our NEXT museum. Phew. Even Ms Dalene told us "I think we've pretty much been museum-ed out".

This was another war museum but apparently was more relevant to what we were learning for A-Level syllabus. This was probably the best museum we've been there because there were cool fighter jets and missiles.

Naturally, we had to take photos. A million and one of 'em.

Vietnam was something different for me. The people and the environment were different. Everyone was equal. And I know that's how a communist country is supposed to work but I've never seen a place like it. Everyone was either walking or on a bike. Vespas especially! Never seen so many vespas and motorcycles in my life! Crossing roads were 10% luck and 90% courage. Brave through the endless trail of motorbikes and swerve your way across. Almost got hit by a bike but phew! Safe and sound and everything and everyone was alright.

The weather was beautiful! The right amount of cold. If Malaysia had that weather, it'd be even MORE perfect. It's scorching hot here and I've to drive anywhere with squinted eyes. I could get away with a leather jacket! When I first arrived, I looked around and the people there were wearing heavy duty stuff like jackets and coats and this and that. It was room air conditioning weather to say the least. But it got progressively colder by the day so I understood why the dressed the way they were. It would rain at night so it was colder then. Like I said, PERFECT weather. Loved that more than anything!

As for food, we had Thai, we had Indian, we had Malaysian and we had Italian. We didn't have any Vietnamese food. Mostly cause it wasn't halal and my parents would freak if I ate anything there. Walked down the streets and I'd see 'hawker' food along and well, it wasn't hygenic and I fear for my life for food poisoning in a foreign country. Hence, the maggi mee. The Indian food though... SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO GOOD!!!!!! It's called 'Namaste' so for anyone reading this who might want to go for a trip to Hanoi, please make your way for some really amazing Indian food. Reminded me of Khans in London! So sedap mengs. Maybe I'm being blinded by my love for Indian food but it's seriously damn sedap k.

Shopping was fantastic. Hahaha. I bought so many things home! Bags, wallets, pouches, posters, tshirts, tidbits. I loved everything about the shopping there. As typical foreigners, of course I got the tshitrs there as souvenirs. But there were abundant amount of bags and wallets all handmade and all in the most gorgeous colours and in the most gorgeous patterns. I'm gonna take a photo of it and show you here to show how vibrant they all are. I LOVE IT.

Overall, Vietnam surprised me. I went half heartedly because I kinda wanted to be home for the long weekend. But Vietnam was soooo good to me! The hotel room, the shopping, the food, the museums, the weather, the company, the everything!!!! I know myself that I don't think I'd go again but I highly recommend it to all who might want to enjoy and see a different culture and lifestyle.

Just word of caution : hold on your things tight and don't worry about the traffic. The Vietnamese know what they're doing.

Cảm Ɣn, Viétnam! (That's Thank You and pronounced 'kam-en'. But of course, I said along the lines of 'komma' til the very last night!!)

20th Celebration Resumes In College

My 20th birthday celebration was a humble one at home with my family. Loved it. But I missed my friends.

Thankfully though, I'm blessed with the best people around.

On Monday, they even sang me Happy Birthday in the dining hall. In my college, whenever it's someone's birthday, the whole dining hall would sing for you. I was sitting with my friends for lunch and they started singing. I didn't know it was for me pun! Until they looked at me. And of course, when I heard ".. Happy Birthday Nadiaaa~" lol

Monday night is also known to the student body as the dreaded Keli Night. It depends really. Thursdays lunch and Monday dinners have always been avoided by those who dislike fish. Or should I say, fish served in KY. But to be honest, I kinda like keli. Because they slather sambal all over it which makes it good. So went for dinner there with the boys. Stayed and talked after dinner til we moved to the cafe. As someone tweeted before (I've forgotten who it was!), "Dari tempat makan, gerak gi tempat makan lagi".

Went into the cafe with Amal and Olan. Everything was fine. Spotted some wearing pink. An unusual above average amount of people wearing my favourite colour. Didn't think much about it. Just thought it was cool. Again, this is 2 days after my birthday so I didn't think anything was gonna happen.

Pana came to me and hugged me out of nowhere and said

"Babe, love you"

"Huh?"

"You'll see"

and Anis did the same thing before they left together.

Again, shrugged it off because tiba tiba Diy pulled me away for a photo (??). Found out later that it was to distract me.

Was walking around 'til Fauzan told me to sit in front of him, my back against the door.

And he said

"Nadia, just wanted to tell you... happy birthday"

and came in the loud singing and the birthday cake. I was pretty much taken aback because I'M SO TOUCHED BY THEN LAH. I was thisclose to tearing up when everyone started singing and Fauzan started smiling but couldn't bring myself to cry because I was so damn happy!!! Turned around to see a nice big red velvet cake from Wondermilk!!

Everyone gathered around the table around me and waited for me to blow out the candles. Which took a long time cause I was laughing too much.

Then Diy said

"Babe, TARIQ bought the cake! TARIQ!!!!!!" and everyone gave a big round of applause because he is honestly the last person I'd think would buy an expensive cake!!!! Hahahahaha thanks Tariq!!!!

I have no words as to how much I love my friends, honestly. It's only been closing in to two years but my college friends have been such a great bunch to me. I KNEW KY was gonna be a good thing !!!!

p/s : Thank you Diy for planning this all out and inviting everyone and asking people to wear pink !!!!! Love you love you love you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :"""""")

p/p/s: Best way to turn 20 !!!!!!
