"Fullhouse!"

Dedicated my Saturday to editing my personal statement, deciding what unis (I still have no clue) and anything related to potential university things before finally moving to studying for the upcoming semester exams. Though I did have a good time eating roti canai for breakfast, nasi campur from Sambal Hijau for lunch and pizza for dinner.

Just got back from my parents room because I had my Mum check my grammar for my personal statement. Came out of the room with SERIOUS editing and changes because Papa thinks it's not too university-ish. So thankful though since Ms Sabiha is away for the holidays, I have my very own referees at home... and there's 2 of 'em! ♥

My week in college !

Marissa surprised me with a lovely belated birthday surprise on Monday. Such a sweetheart albeit being  really awkward and random 95% of the time. Love the girl.

And how can I not blog about how they played softball the other day ? I came down to the field because there was supposedly a Garnet v Topaz basketball game but it didn't happen but I stayed on anyway. Everybody feigned shock horror upon seeing my around during that time; I usually take a nap or have quality time with my number one best friend; the Internet. Some of them were playing softball but it was hilarious because it was their first time. I still don't get the game so guess what I was /!?!?!! The 3rd base. Like y'know the base where people slide and step on ? Yep. That was me.

(This is Puchee explaining the basic rules to softball like to say "Home run !" and not "Full house !" *cough*Anis*cough*)

And it was also a week of non-stop riddles and tricks played on the juniors. So hilarious because almost every break time, they'd slowly assemble around the table with us and ask us to play the riddle again so they can try and figure out. It must be disturbing them; I know it did for me last year when the seniors did it to me ! They still don't know half of it though so I predict weeks more to come haha this is Olan playing the trick on them and Rongge and Iqbal (regulars) trying to figure what the hell Olan's on. Hahaha I kid.

Mama wanted me to try out this North Indian food in Hartamas Shopping Center so after eating, we browsed the mall (boring) but found this small shop that sold interesting finds; and was particularly attracted to this burnt orange skirt. Loved it ! And got this other bright purple palazzo pants. But this is not interesting so I shall move on.

One week of study leave commences and let's all wish and pray that it will be a productive one. Amin.

God bless and have a great week ahead !

Personal Statement

Been writing and editing my personal statement and still be way over the character limit (... like 500 more than I'm supposed to be writing!). I don't know what and where to cut, everything seems so important and like, what if I potong benda yang universities would want? Doesn't help that the college WiFi is as slow as balls. Can't even e-mail it to Ms Sabiha.

Have decided to change my course from law to business and economics. Because in all honesty, never did have the passion to read law as an undergraduate. And didn't want to waste my parents money doing something I wasn't interested in and waste 4 years of my life doing something because it was 'the way to go'. Business and economics, I'm more keen with. Because it's something I can relate too more compared to law.

Confession Hour

Some people grew up wanting to be a doctor (never understood how people would want to voluntarily spend millions to study medicine and spend basically their whole life cutting up people and not to mention, endure the EXTREMELY tough road towards being a doctor i.e; competing for spots in med school, and from watching Grey's Anatomy going through odd hours for on calls and whatnot) and some to be a lawyer. It's not something I leaned towards since I was young. It was something more of

"A-Levels? Hmm... don't want to touch the science subjects so I guess I'll do something more social science-y. Maybe law? Ok fine, law je lah"

which has been bothering me since I confirmed it with my teacher and I convinced myself it would be my life and blood to do law. Wei dahlah kena buat LNAT. No thanks.

So I've gravitated towards business and economics because I feel like I'm more okay in those subjects as opposed to law... tapi sayang ah sebab dah buat personal statement for law. BACK TO SQUARE ONE.

If money wasn't an issue, and if I was born elsewhere where the fashion industry was more prominent, I would have pursued a degree in fashion retailing/marketing or anywhere down that road. I'd probably wake up more eager for classes and I'd look forward to my lectures and whatever there was to be taught. But alas, it's not a perfect world and not everybody gets what they want.

I grew up being the typical girly wirly girls who loved going out shopping with Mama and played 'masak-masak'. So my inability to play sports rooted from when I was a kid. Didn't want to get dirty.
I even had my mum draw the outline to my dresses and I'd colour them in with added frills and flowers or whatnots. I even remember I made a powerpoint presentation on outfits that I liked (photos from the Internet and yes,  I was clearly the more technological literate compared to my siblings during that time!) and I'd give a rating for each and every one that I liked. Embarrassing but guess that'd showed you how much I was interested when I was young. I may not dress like your typical Tumblr girl, donned in her best 'vintage' (hate this word) finds.

And for the record, I will never ever ever ever ever use the phrase "passion for fashion" because it's overrated and it just screams Barbie.

As I write my personal statement on business and economics, I have that strand of hope that the fantasy world of my daily routine consisting of going to work in black Louboutin pumps and meetings with fashion's biggest maven and desk filled with invitations to shows and papers to sign approval for, would eventually come true.

A girl can dream.

KYUEM Summit

One of the things I love about my college is that the students here; if they want it, they'll strive for it to make it happen. It's inspirational, really. Whether it's studies or the inter house competitions, I can sum up the students here in one word and that is they are driven.

Yesterday was another proof of that. Last year's Student Council elections, KC proposed an idea for a KYUEM Summit where students from other colleges would come together and discuss ideas from 3 different aspects; economics, social and political. And for the past few months, Farhan, Iman, Bob and KC have worked hard to make this proposal a reality. It was all worth it for the Big 4 and the committee who have worked hard to make this event a success because last night was so cool.

Garnet won the Bangsawan 2012 so as a 'prize', we got to perform during KY Summit. Hwaaaa so nervous k !!!! I think we were all nervous because we had students from other colleges and VVIP who were present. It wasn't a Garnet production then because we had some Topazians, Diamonders and Sapphire kids who came and helped us out which meant a lot.

It was the same chaos backstage as it was during Bangsawan night. As the curtain opened, everyone put on their best faces to perform a good show. Alhamdulillah it went well and the crowd laughed. Always the best feeling when you're backstage to hear the audience laugh. Thanks, Husam for that hehe.

Then the night went on with dinners and declarations and performances !

Olan/Aiman performed one of my favourite ever songs in the the history of favourite ever songs; Kau Ilhamku by ManBai. Love the acoustic and I think everyone enjoyed it as much as I did because Olan got so many flowers from the audience ! Cute.

And then we have Hariez who sang At Last and L.O.V.E. So good as per usual.
Can't say while I was recording these two, I wasn't stealing glimpses at Khairy to see if he was enjoying himself and he did ! So glad !!

K I'm already way behind schedule with my homework so photos galore begins now !

and of course...

What a great night ! Congratulations again KY for making yesterday's event a memorable one !!!

The Making Of

Have always wanted to do a Behind The Scenes video and since Bangsawan was around the corner, took the opportunity to finally make one.

This is the finish product thanks to Amal for being master of all editing & filming ! :)

Bangsawan 2012

Ha Whatsapped me the other day and asked if I could be in charge of the Bangsawan costumes. I agreed.

After some complications, I decided to just rent out the costumes from Aron Nawi Creations and he was incredibly helpful though I thought I was being a pain in the neck for being extremely overbearing over e-mails, texts, and phone calls. But he was so nice about it so I'm glad :) Though the car ride to Sungai Besi and the carrying of 2 large bags and 2 plastic containers was exhausting, worth it ! Happy I could contribute to the Bangsawan production in one way or another.

Bangsawan prep was tough because practice was at 530 everyday til 730 and then from 830 til 10-11. Even the minor of roles had to attend or else Ha would blow off her steam. First time tengok Ha so stressed out and so everyone tried to please her by coming to rehearsals everyday heh heh love you Ha.

(Thanks Ha for the photos above!)

Whatsapp Group "Garnet Bangsawan Practice" was busy with Ha's notifications of "PLEASE COME TO TODAYS PRACTICE!!!!" or "PROPS TODAY!!" hahaha

Full dressed rehearsal was stressful because we had to perform in front of Bonda and she's our toughest judge. By the end of our session, we all had to gather and she was quite nice and she and Mr Azman praised us for our acting though props could use a little touch up here and there. We basically, corrected what she told us to correct and hoped for the best.

BANGSAWAN NIGHT

We're third up, after Diamond and before Topaz. Our slot was supposed to be by 930 so we all had be at Acad 2 by 745. Nerves started to heighten as everyone got ready in the dark (yep, out of all night, Acad 2 had to be blacked out excluding one room on Bangsawan night!).

Diyana told Olan to suck in his cheeks so that she could apply bronzer on him. Too cute!

Can't recall exactly what time we had to be downstairs by the hall but everybody was a nervous wreck ! We just wanted it to be as smooth as possible. Before we got to go on stage, we had a sneak peek at Diamond's performance and from the looks of it, it was so good ! Their props were beautiful !!! And so grand !

Quite sad that we couldn't watch the earlier performances by Sapphire and Diamond because we had to get ready. Hoping that the RC produces a good quality video :( Funny how they have all this chunky big equipments but don't know heck when it comes to recording. Someone shove them a "How To Record Something On Stage" pamphlet !

Twas busy and hectic backstage. I think everyone was more nervous about the backdrop and the prop arrangements than they were for the actors acting !

Well, atleast I was. I had faith in the actors to pull off a great show but anything can happen with the props, right ?!?!?!

Moving on. Alhamdulillah. Things went well and everything went as smoothly as we had hoped for. Although the curtain was closed for a tad too long than we'd liked, the props went on as perfect as it could. Props to our props man, Ben and his Gang !!! The juniors outdid themselves by coming together and delegated the tasks like a pro they all are.

We had to rush away because Topaz was on our tails.

They too put up a great show. I especially loved Pipah and her dayang's part ! They were so cute and animated. It reminded me of those Beyonce-like ladies in Hercules who would sing all the time ! So comel.

Judges scurried out after Topaz had finished their show. Nerves settled in. Each house gathered according to their own. Garnet and Diamond on one side of the hall and Sapphire/Topaz on the other. Glad to see Ram and DZ make it to see us in action ! :")

The judges came in quite quickly after discussing. Which was quite surprising because they took FOREVER last year. I swear, I remembered we had so much free time after the last performance because the judges took a whole eternity to decide.

NERVES I TELL YA, NERVES !!!!!!

Ok, so maybe you can't tell the nerves from the photos but I swear everyone was shaking. I had to hold onto Amal ! Everyone was on the edge of their seats.. literally. I couldn't sit down in one place so I went around and took photos. But quickly sat down again when a judge took the mike and started to announce the winners.

Though I have to command him for commenting on the great hall and how it HAS to be upgraded by the college. Needless to say, that garnered him a lot of applause and love from the student body. Yes please, Mr Wilkinson.

So ok, first up. Best Props...

... goes to Gar... net. That was exactly how he said it. We all couldn't really believe because let's be honest, our props did not come to par with everyone else's ! Surreal that we won !!!!!!! Nevertheless, we were all over the moon ! Garnet didn't win ANY award last year round so this was already a good start.

Can't remember what was next. But I'm just going to list who won what;

Best Costumes : Topaz

Best Antagonist : Nani from Diamond (she really deserved it because I saw a glimpse of her acting before going on stage and she really outdid herself. Such character! Her dressing was so apt too!)

Best Choreography : Sapphire

Best Technical I can't remember who sorry

LEZ GET TO BIZNESS

Best Supporting Actor : Bijan from Topaz

Best Supporting Actress : Pipah !

Best Actor : Zuheir from Diamond ! The judge in front even said "Saya jatuh cinta dengan lakonon dia" nothing beats that, huh?

Best Actress : Our Queen, Diyanah !!!!!! SO proud !! She finally and successfully cried on stage ! Bravo!

Best Script goes to Garnet !!!!!!!!!!!!! Proud and super super excited for Ha, Aliah, Sherry and Bro who pulled long nights just to get the script right.

Best Director goes to my lovely friend, Anis !

and the most awaited award is closing on us. Best Drama.

Before that, Amal whispered to me "It's going to be Topaz because if a house wins Best Director it means they won Best Drama too" in which I shh-ed her because WHO NEEDS TO HEAR THAT 10 SECONDS BEFORE WINNER IS ANNOUNCED ?!?!

They started with 4th place. And it's Diamond. Garnet is shocked to the core. Because we got word that the house to beat was Diamond. I wouldn't be all that surprised if they emerged as winners because last year kinda got them going. Had the best props around and best actors/actresses.

We all gave a standing ovation for Wahidah as she walked to the stage to receive her prize. Ha is such good friends with her so it's a conflict of interest because as much as we all want to win, we can't help but feel sad for your fellow director friend. I'm telling you, it's much easier if Bangsawan was an event battling against other colleges !!!! We wouldn't have to feel bipolar so much, sikit sikit sedih sebab tak menang but at the same time happy for our friend who got the award.

3rd place goes to Sapphire. Can't really say much because I didn't get to see their performance but I'm looking forward to watching the video because everyone's been saying Sarah and Irfan were such good lead actors.

First, the judge wanted to announce first place. But then he contemplates and says that he'll announce the 2nd place first. Which is pretty much the same thing lah kan.

"Tempat kedua jatuh kepada... Topaz"

and all I can remember was screaming and jumping and hugging and more screaming. I had to momentarily calm myself and get my camera to take a photo. I was thisclose to recording our reactions but then they'd be a bit obnoxious because it'd be like we were anticipating a win. But god, I wished I did!

We were freaking over the freaking moon. So proud of Ha and her fellow directors and every thing she did for us was so worth it !!!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm still in disbelief. It's so surreal. Congratulations Topaz for putting up a fierce show :"""") Congratulations Anis for being Best Director !

But ultimately CONGRATULATIONS GARNET AND HA FOR WINNING BEST DRAMA !!!!

Love my Garnet members forever and ever and so proud of our win ! May we always be humble about everything we do and always help the other houses because at the end of the day, we leave KY as one community, not 4.

God bless and Go Garnet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cat Hoodie

Currently :

Sipping on my hot Milo
Liaising with Ha and Amiera regarding the Bangsawan costumes
Battling my headache since yesterday
About to take my 15th nap

Being sick sucks. It sucks more though because I'm only home during weekends so bila dah demam tu, macam wasted je duduk kat rumah tak makan ke apa :( But grateful I'm at home instead of being in college. I've been sick in college and that sucks times a billion because all you get to eat is cafe food.

Anyway, let's see what'z happenin'

Unofficial pencil skirt day with Hanis, Aisyah and Nadira !

Azam said I looked like Christmas in which I retaliated and told him he looked like Black Friday because he was all darkly dressed alongside 3 others.

Bangsawan prep has the whole college stressed up their bones because this was the last week for last minute preparations before the big day on Saturday.

Bangsawan post up soon ! xx
